America.gov launched as AI-powered federal services portal FAST-MOVING

President Donald Trump has launched America.gov, an AI-powered digital portal designed to serve as a unified entry point for federal information and services. Unveiled on September 29, 2026, at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C., the platform aims to consolidate access to resources currently scattered across approximately 29,000 government websites.

The portal utilizes a dual-engine framework powered by Google’s Gemini and SpaceXAI’s Grok. It features a conversational interface that allows citizens to ask questions in plain language. While the initial phase focuses on information retrieval, the administration plans to expand capabilities to include direct transactions, such as passport renewals, Medicare enrollment, and name changes.

Trump signed an executive order directing federal agencies to integrate their public-facing services into the platform. The project was developed with the National Design Studio, led by U.S. chief design officer Joe Gebbia. During the launch, Trump advocated for the continued advancement of technology, even suggesting a shift in terminology from ‘Artificial Intelligence’ to ‘Super Intelligence.’

Some reports noted that the AI initially provided answers to politically sensitive questions that contradicted the President's own statements, though the system later began refusing to answer political inquiries. The administration has emphasized that privacy and security are priorities for the new system.
