United States pushes to dismantle International Criminal Court

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that the United States will "dismantle the ICC — brick by brick," reiterating a policy of the Trump administration that does not recognize the International Criminal Court’s authority and has imposed sanctions on its prosecutors.

New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani posted a video accusing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of war crimes in Gaza and calling on U.S. federal authorities to arrest him under an ICC arrest warrant. Mamdani also said the New York Police Department lacks jurisdiction to detain Netanyahu when he attends the United Nations General Assembly. Netanyahu responded by labeling Mamdani’s statements as hate speech.

The U.S. House of Representatives approved a $1.15 trillion defense bill that expands military cooperation and data sharing with Israel. Separate reporting linked former ICC chief prosecutor Luis Moreno Ocampo to alleged corruption involving shell companies and a multi‑million‑dollar consulting deal after leaving the court.
