United States officials conduct high-level meetings in Albania

Recent diplomatic activities involving United States officials in Albania have drawn attention to the country's political and judicial landscape. Kimberly Guilfoyle, the U.S. Ambassador to Greece, held an unannounced evening meeting with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama. The visit was noted for its unconventional nature, as Guilfoyle was not accompanied by personnel from the U.S. Embassy in Tirana, despite the embassy being the primary diplomatic mission for Albania.

In a separate development, the new U.S. Ambassador to Tirana, Eric Wendt, met with Klodian Braho, the head of the Special Anti-Corruption Structure (SPAK). This meeting is viewed as a signal of continued American support for the Albanian judiciary. The visit comes at a critical time as SPAK conducts investigations into high-profile cases, including allegations involving the State Intelligence Service (SHISH) and the State Police regarding the leaking of reserved information to organized crime groups.
