United States pressures Netanyahu to condemn West Bank settler siege

The United States is pressuring Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to publicly condemn militant settlers who have placed a Palestinian village under siege on the occupied West Bank.

In the village of Kusri, settlers have reportedly surrounded homes, cut off water and electricity supplies, and attempted to seize additional land. The situation escalated after it was discovered that the homes of a Palestinian citizen with U.S. nationality were among the targets. U.

U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Hakabi described the settlers involved as ‘Israeli terrorists.’ While the White House and Netanyahu’s office have not immediately responded to requests for comment, officials suggest that a public condemnation could be politically sensitive for Netanyahu, as it may alienate right-wing coalition voters ahead of upcoming elections.
