United States provides funding for digital modernization and cybersecurity in Argentina

The United States has announced significant non-reimbursable funding to bolster Argentina's digital infrastructure and security. A US$15 million investment will support the creation of a national cybersecurity operations center. This center aims to monitor and protect government networks, detect vulnerabilities, and coordinate responses to digital threats. The initiative also includes an evaluation of the security of ARSAT, the state-owned telecommunications company, and a plan to progressively replace Chinese-origin technology, specifically Huawei equipment, in certain state networks due to security concerns.

Additionally, the United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) has approved nearly US$1.4 million in technical assistance for the province of Salta. This project focuses on expanding connectivity through new fiber optic networks, integrating artificial intelligence into transport, education, and health services, and upgrading the provincial data center. These efforts are part of the Andes-Atlantic Corridor, a cooperation framework between Argentina and the United States designed to modernize infrastructure and connect productive sectors to Atlantic ports.
