United States provides operational equipment to Senegal's Gendarmerie

The United States has provided new operational equipment to the Senegalese Gendarmerie nationale to strengthen security cooperation between Dakar and Washington. During a ceremony held on August 28, 2026, officials from the Gendarmerie and the U.S. Embassy in Senegal presented the donation.

The equipment includes twelve motorcycles, four all-terrain vehicles (quads), and a significant supply of spare parts. This logistical support is intended to improve the mobility and efficiency of gendarmerie units, particularly in rural and border areas where difficult access often complicates interventions.

This initiative is part of a long-standing bilateral partnership focused on training, information exchange, and operational capacity building. The cooperation aims to support priority missions such as border surveillance, combating criminal and terrorist networks, and protecting populations and property.
