United States pushes for Venezuelan political transition
The political transition in Venezuela has entered a critical phase as the United States increases pressure for dialogue. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has called on all sectors of the Venezuelan opposition to engage in negotiations with the government, led by Delcy Rodríguez.
A key meeting is scheduled for October 14, focusing on the election of the Supreme Court and establishing guarantees for credible future elections. While the opposition table is currently led by National Assembly President Dinorah Figuera, prominent figures such as María Corina Machado and Edmundo González have not yet participated in the talks.
Under the current administration, the United States has shifted from recognizing Delcy Rodríguez as the sole interlocutor to acting as an arbiter for the Venezuelan government's institutional activities. Analysts suggest this supervised process aims to prevent the total collapse of previous agreements and facilitate progress in areas such as the release of political prisoners and oil industry management.
