US reportedly pressured Israel to strike Iran alone

Reports indicate that the United States recently pressured Israel to conduct a unilateral military strike against Iran. According to discussions held over a two-week period, Washington reportedly sought to have Israel assume the full political and military risks of such an operation, rather than engaging in a joint US-Israeli mission or a solo American strike.

This strategic request was allegedly motivated by domestic political considerations in the United States. Officials reportedly believed that a US-led escalation could negatively impact President Donald Trump ahead of the upcoming midterm elections. Conversely, they suggested an Israeli-led strike might align with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s interests before Israel’s own elections on October 27.

IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir reportedly opposed the proposal, warning that a military confrontation with Iran could trigger heavy missile fire and necessitate the postponement of Israel’s elections. Following these warnings, the United States has reportedly put the demand on hold. The discussions occurred amid intelligence suggesting that Iran is rapidly rebuilding its ballistic missile and drone production capabilities despite previous strikes.
