United States signs $4 billion military loan agreement with Poland

The United States and Poland have signed a $4 billion loan agreement under the Foreign Military Financing (FMF) program to fund the acquisition of American military equipment. The agreement, announced by Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, is intended to accelerate the modernization of the Polish Armed Forces and strengthen the strategic partnership between the two nations.

The funds will be used to co-finance existing contracts and support new procurement programs. Key targets for this financing include the delivery of AH-64E Apache helicopters and potentially the acquisition of additional F-35 fighter jets. The financing will be managed through the Polish Armed Forces Support Fund (FWSZ), a state instrument designed for rapid military modernization.

Since 2022, Poland has entered into six FMF agreements with the United States, totaling $19.08 billion. The Polish Armed Forces Support Fund, which primarily relies on loans and bond issuances, has an estimated 2026 budget of approximately $19.9 billion (77.2 billion PLN).
