United States to revoke visas of up to 200,000 asylum seekers

The United States administration is preparing to revoke the business and tourist visas of up to 200,000 foreign nationals who have applied for or currently hold asylum status in the country. If implemented, this would represent the largest mass visa revocation in U.S. history.

According to Department of State documents and official sources, the measure is expected to target B1 and B2 visas issued between 2016 and 2026. The operation is being coordinated with the Department of Homeland Security to identify individuals who entered the U.S. as short-term visitors but subsequently filed for asylum to remain permanently.

While the revocation may lead to a loss of visa status and reclassification of pending asylum cases, officials stated it does not necessarily result in immediate deportation. The move is part of a broader effort by the administration to tighten immigration controls and monitor the use of short-term visas.
