United Talent Agency (UTA) CEO David Kramer issued a company-wide memo accusing Variety reporter Matt Donnelly of unprofessionalism and bias following a critical report about the agency. The Variety article detailed high-profile client departures, including Alex Cooper and Nikki Glaser, and noted internal anxieties regarding industry consolidation.

In the memo, Kramer alleged that Donnelly had described UTA as a ‘flagrant and hostile enemy’ in an email and threatened the agency with ‘consequences’ via text. Kramer also accused Donnelly of subjecting female employees at the agency to hostile and unprofessional behavior.

A spokesperson for Variety defended the publication and its editor, stating that the communications cited by UTA were taken out of context. The spokesperson clarified that the disputed emails and texts dated back to May, stemming from a heated exchange between a UTA executive and Donnelly during the Cannes Film Festival regarding an on-the-record interview.
