Unitree Robotics surges in Shanghai IPO debut FAST-MOVING

Unitree Robotics, a Hangzhou-based manufacturer of humanoid and quadruped robots, made a major debut on the Shanghai Stock Exchange's STAR Market on August 19, 2026. The company raised approximately 6.1 billion yuan (US$904-905 million) through its initial public offering, marking it as the first humanoid robot maker to be listed on mainland China's stock market.

Investor demand was exceptionally high, with retail subscriptions exceeding the available shares by more than 8,000 times. Following the debut, shares surged by over 600%, rising from an IPO price of 150.8 yuan to 1,100 yuan, bringing the company's valuation to approximately 61 billion yuan.

Unitree, founded in 2016 by Wang Xingxing, has become a significant player in the global robotics market, shipping over 5,500 humanoid robots last year. The company recently unveiled a new humanoid model named 'Superman,' which is capable of running at 12.66 meters per second and jumping up to 2 meters high. The listing highlights growing investor interest in 'embodied AI' and China's strategic push to lead in advanced robotics and artificial intelligence technologies.
