Unitree Robotics faces scrutiny over internal management and cost controls
Reports regarding the internal management of humanoid robot manufacturer Unitree Robotics have surfaced, alleging strict cost-control measures and a centralized decision-making process. According to reports from Caixin and other outlets, CEO Wang Xingxing reportedly personally approves expense reimbursements exceeding 100 yuan, leading to long queues outside his office and concerns regarding management efficiency.
Employees have described a high-pressure work environment characterized by a reward system that focuses heavily on penalties rather than incentives. While some staff noted that salaries are higher than traditional industrial robotics firms, they are reportedly lower than newer embodied AI startups. This has reportedly contributed to the loss of core technical personnel to competitors.
Wang is described as a highly detail-oriented leader who personally oversees minute product specifications, such as the length of screws. Unitree has responded to these allegations by stating that “many contents are untrue,” though the company did not provide specific rebuttals to the claims regarding reimbursement protocols, salary levels, or staff turnover.
