Unitree Robotics launches Shanghai IPO to become first mainland humanoid robot maker

Unitree Robotics, a Hangzhou-based manufacturer specializing in quadruped and humanoid robots, has launched its initial public offering (IPO) on the Shanghai Stock Exchange’s STAR Market. The company priced its shares at 150.8 yuan each, aiming to raise approximately 6.1 billion yuan ($904 million). This move positions Unitree as the first mainland-listed humanoid robot manufacturer.

Founded in 2016 by Wang Xingxing, Unitree has seen significant growth, with revenue reaching nearly 1.7 billion yuan in 2025. Unlike many competitors in the robotics sector, the company is profitable, reporting an adjusted net profit of approximately 600 million yuan. Its product lineup includes the G1, H1, and R1 humanoid models, as well as widely used quadruped robots.

The IPO has seen intense investor interest, with retail subscriptions being heavily oversubscribed. Strategic investors include DeepSeek, which acquired a 2.31% stake, and Tencent, which holds a 2.23% stake. Other participants in the strategic placement include the National Social Security Fund and various industrial capital groups. The company intends to use the raised capital to advance research in embodied AI, humanoid robot development, and the construction of new manufacturing bases.
