Unitree Robotics unveils autonomous humanoid robot using real-time world model
Unitree Robotics has introduced the UnifoLM-X2-1.0, which it claims is the world’s first fully autonomous humanoid robot operating on a real-time world model. Unlike previous iterations that relied on remote controls or pre-programmed sequences, this new system uses a world-action foundation model to predict physical interactions, object movement, and force dynamics to plan movements in real time.
In a demonstration video, two humanoid robots engaged in nearly two minutes of autonomous combat, performing punches, kicks, and defensive maneuvers without human intervention or scripted choreography. The company describes this as “combat-level autonomy,” suggesting that the technology validates the feasibility of large-scale deployment for world-model-guided humanoid robots.
Unitree founder Wang Xingxing noted that a primary current bottleneck in embodied intelligence is the alignment between model input/output and physical robot execution. While the combat demonstration serves as an extreme test of perception, decision-making, and execution in a high-speed, unpredictable environment, the industry's next challenge remains the ability to transfer these capabilities to stable, complex tasks in unfamiliar real-world settings.
