Unitree Robotics unveils Superman humanoid robot with record speed

Chinese robotics company Unitree has unveiled a new humanoid robot named ‘Superman’, demonstrating athletic capabilities that exceed human records. According to company data, the robot can reach speeds of 12.66 meters per second (approximately 45.6 km/h), surpassing the peak speed recorded by sprinter Usain Bolt during his 2009 world record run.

In addition to its speed, the ‘Superman’ robot can perform vertical jumps of up to two meters. The company showcased these abilities through a video release, highlighting the robot's ability to launch from a stationary position and land with stability.

The unveiling comes during a significant period for Unitree, which recently went public on the Shanghai Stock Exchange. The company raised approximately $905 million through the IPO, experiencing high investor demand with an oversubscription rate of more than 8,000 times. Unitree claims to be the world's largest manufacturer of humanoid robots by sales volume, having delivered approximately 18,000 bipedal robots across various models as of late July.
