Unitree shares surge 500% following Shanghai IPO and new robot demo
Hangzhou-based humanoid robotics manufacturer Unitree saw its shares surge approximately 500% following its debut on the Shanghai Stock Exchange. The rally followed the unveiling of a new humanoid model named ‘Superman,’ which the company claims can reach speeds of 28 mph and leap approximately two meters.
By mid-morning trading, the surge pushed Unitree’s market valuation to roughly $62 billion (approximately 445 billion yuan). The company’s rapid growth and technological demonstrations have placed it in the global spotlight, particularly as investors show increased interest in physical AI.
Despite its market success, Unitree faces geopolitical challenges. The company has been flagged by the Pentagon, and the United States is implementing new rules aimed at curbing the import of foreign humanoid robots. Unitree currently counts major tech firms such as Nvidia, Google, and Amazon among its users.
