Unitree unveils H2-X humanoid robot with advanced physical capabilities
Chinese robotics company Unitree has released promotional footage for its new H2-X Kung Fu Legend Guardian, a humanoid robot demonstrating high-level physical performance. The demonstration video shows the machine performing martial arts moves, including punches and kicks capable of damaging car doors, executing backflips, and jumping from a 4-meter-high platform.
The robot was also shown in simulated security and rescue scenarios, such as confronting an armed attacker and lifting the front of a vehicle. Unitree claims the H2-X has a maximum standing endurance of approximately 8 hours. While the footage showcases impressive hardware, it remains unclear if the actions were performed autonomously, via remote control, or through preprogrammed sequences.
The release has sparked discussions regarding the dual-use potential of such technology, specifically its possible applications in military or security contexts. Unitree included a safety warning in its promotion, requesting that users refrain from making dangerous modifications or using the robot in a hazardous manner.
