Unity Party warns of political conduct after President Boakai booed

The Unity Party Montserrado Youth Congress has issued a warning regarding political conduct following the booing of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai at Rehab Junction on September 2. In a statement released on September 4, 2026, the youth leadership described the incident as “unfortunate and politically provocative,” arguing that such behavior undermines the dignity of the presidency and the culture of political tolerance required in Liberia.

While acknowledging that political disagreement is a constitutional right, the group stated that deliberate disrespect should not be accepted. The Unity Party emphasized that it is not intimidated by such provocations and possesses the strength to respond, but has chosen to exercise restraint to protect Liberia’s peace, stability, and democratic order. The party intends to address provocations through legal and democratic mechanisms rather than retaliation, while calling on relevant institutions to act impartially against any unlawful conduct.
