Unity updates render pipeline and introduces CLI for developers

Unity is advancing its development tools through updates to its render pipeline and the introduction of a Command Line Interface (CLI).

Regarding graphics strategy, the company is focusing on the Universal Render Pipeline (URP) to improve performance. Key technical developments include Surface Cache GI, SSR, GTAO, and Neural Texture Compression to address memory constraints. Developers are also exploring migrations from the High Definition Render Pipeline (HDRP) to URP to optimize workflows.

In the realm of extended reality (XR), the new Unity CLI and pipeline package are being utilized to streamline development workflows. Experts suggest that using the CLI offers faster iteration times by leveraging the Roslyn compiler for code evaluation, which eliminates the need for Editor recompiles and domain reloads.
