Universal Civil Service programs launch in Locride and Castelli Romani

Various Universal Civil Service programs have launched across Italy, involving young volunteers in community and environmental projects.

In the Locride region, the “Locride Educante 2026” program has officially begun in Siderno. Promoted by the association Civitas Solis in partnership with six municipalities—including Siderno, San Luca, and Locri—the initiative employs 55 young volunteers. Over the next twelve months, participants will work on projects focused on a “Distributed Educational Hub of Locride” and cultural networks across the Costa dei Gelsomini. Siderno Mayor Maria Teresa Fragomeni emphasized the civic value of the experience and its role in the professional growth of the youth.

Separately, the Castelli Romani Regional Park has welcomed six new volunteers for the 2026-2027 period. These volunteers will engage in projects related to environmental education, sustainability, and wildlife monitoring. Park President Ivan Boccali welcomed the new cohort, noting that the exchange of ideas between volunteers and staff serves as an opportunity for mutual growth and the protection of natural and cultural heritage.
