Universal Music Group secures exclusive Beatles rights

Universal Music Group (UMG) has entered into a new, exclusive, and long-term global partnership with Apple Corps to manage the rights for The Beatles. Under this agreement, UMG will oversee global physical and digital merchandising, licensing, and e-commerce for the band.

This partnership coincides with several major upcoming projects aimed at preserving the band's legacy. In 2027, a new official fan experience facility, ‘The Beatles at 3 Savile Row’, is scheduled to open. The seven-story venue will feature unreleased archival materials and a recreation of the studio used during the recording of ‘Let it Be’.

Additionally, a cinematic event titled ‘The Beatles – A Four Film Cinematic Event’, directed by Sam Mendes, is set for release in 2028. This project will feature four films told from the individual perspectives of the four band members, marking the first time Apple Corps has fully authorized the use of the members' life rights and music for such a biographical endeavor.
