Universal Orlando refurbishes Jurassic Park River Adventure

Universal Orlando Resort is conducting an extensive refurbishment of the Jurassic Park River Adventure ride at Universal Islands of Adventure. The attraction has been closed since January 5, 2026, and is currently scheduled to reopen on November 20, 2026.

Recent aerial photography has provided a detailed look at the construction progress, specifically in the Ultrasaur Lagoon area. The images show a partially disassembled dinosaur animatronic positioned beside a drained ride path. While there has been speculation among fans that the ride might be rethemed to a ‘Jurassic World’ concept, current visual evidence suggests the project is a maintenance-focused refurbishment intended to preserve the original 1993 Jurassic Park theme.

The lengthy renovation period is attributed to the ride's age, having opened in 1999. The attraction utilizes complex audio-animatronic technology that requires significant upkeep, and the nature of water rides—combined with exposure to outdoor elements—leads to increased wear and tear.
