Universal Pictures develops fifth Jurassic World film

Universal Pictures is in the early stages of developing the fifth Jurassic World film, with production expected to begin in 2027. The project follows the events of Jurassic World Rebirth (2025), which established a decline in the global dinosaur population.

While director Gareth Edwards departed the project due to creative differences, the studio is currently searching for a new director. David Koepp is expected to return as the screenwriter, and lead actors Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey are slated to reprise their roles.

Recent social media activity from official franchise accounts has hinted at the potential return of original series characters Lex and Tim Murphy, played by Ariana Richards and Joe Mazzello. Additionally, the video game project Jurassic Park: Survival remains active in development.
