Jacob Chase to direct horror film ‘Sleepover’ for Blumhouse and Universal

Director Jacob Chase, following the box office success of ‘Insidious: Out of the Further’, is set to direct a new horror film titled ‘Sleepover’. The project is a collaboration between Blumhouse Atomic Monster and Universal Pictures, with a scheduled theatrical release on October 8, 2027.

Chase will co-write the screenplay with Bryce McGuire, the writer-director of ‘Night Swim’. The story is adapted from an original short story by McGuire and is described by studios as the ‘quintessential sleepover nightmare’.

Jason Blum will serve as producer, while Chase, McGuire, and Bea Sequeira will act as executive producers. Lilly Tyson will oversee the project for Blumhouse Atomic Monster. The announcement follows the recent performance of the sixth ‘Insidious’ installment, which earned approximately $60 million worldwide.
