Universal Studios Hits $4 Billion Global Box Office in 2026
Universal Pictures became the first Hollywood studio in 2026 to exceed $4 billion in worldwide ticket sales, posting $1.53 billion domestically and $2.48 billion internationally. This marks the fifth time the studio has reached the $4 billion milestone and the first since 2023.
Two of the three films that have crossed the $1 billion worldwide threshold this year are Universal releases: The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and Michael. Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is close to the $1 billion mark, having earned $911 million after three weekends and pulling in $136.2 million in its third global weekend, including $68 million from IMAX screens.
Universal has led the global weekend box office for ten weekends in 2026 and, together with Focus Features, placed five titles among the year’s top‑10 highest‑grossing films: Michael (No. 2), The Super Mario Galaxy Movie (No. 3), The Odyssey (No. 4), Obsession (No. 9) and Minions & Monsters (No. 10).
