Universidad Andrés Bello in Chile debates AI's role and limits

The Faculty of Engineering at Universidad Andrés Bello (UNAB) held an online talk titled “Copiloto o Capitán? El verdadero alcance de la Inteligencia Artificial.” The session featured Juan Carlos Aravena Sáez, a specialist in systems audit, cybersecurity and data science, who examined how artificial intelligence can serve as a decision‑support tool or assume more autonomous functions in complex processes. Director Jenny Pantoja Blyde emphasized that “AI does not replace human judgment, it enhances it when used correctly,” and stressed the ethical need for professionals to question, interpret and responsibly direct the technology.

At the same time, broader public discussion resurfaces the question of whether advancing AI and robotics could eventually replace humanity, a debate revived by recent rapid technological development and reminiscent of earlier science‑fiction scenarios.
