Universidad APEC launches Contemporary Journalism degree

Universidad APEC (Unapec) has launched a new degree in Contemporary Journalism in collaboration with the Colegio Dominicano de Periodistas (CDP) and the Sindicato Nacional de Trabajadores de la Prensa (SNTP). The two-year program is designed for practicing journalists who already hold an undergraduate degree.

The curriculum aims to address modern challenges in the field, specifically focusing on digital communication, artificial intelligence, 3D animation, and social media formats. The initiative is expected to benefit between 500 and 1,000 professional journalists, providing them with updated scientific and technological training.

Erik Pérez Vega, rector of Unapec, stated that the degree fills a gap in the Dominican Republic's higher education landscape. Luis Pérez Novas, president of the CDP, described the program as a significant milestone for the professionalization of the national press.
