Universidad Austral de Chile and Virginia Tech expand academic partnership

The Universidad Austral de Chile (UACh) and Virginia Tech (VT) are strengthening their long-standing collaboration agreement to expand international academic exchange and research. A delegation from Virginia Tech, led by Dr. Cyril Clarke, visited UACh’s Isla Teja Campus and facilities in Valdivia and Coyhaique to meet with university authorities and academic faculties.

The visit included meetings with the Academic Vice-Rectorate and the Vice-Rectorate for Research, Development, and Artistic Creation. The delegation also toured the Río Cruces Wetlands Center and the UACh Botanical Garden. UACh Rector Dr. Egon Montecinos expressed the goal of evolving this partnership into a development hub for research regarding the Patagonia region, climate change, and soil science.
