Universidad Autónoma de Baja California promotes social responsibility

The Universidad Autónoma de Baja California (UABC) is advancing its social responsibility through two distinct initiatives: continuing education and blood donation campaigns.

In Mexicali, Rector Luis Enrique Palafox Maestre recognized academic units for their excellence in continuing education. These programs aim to balance institutional financial sustainability with the social need for accessible, inclusive training that responds to evolving labor and technological demands. Constanza Diedrich, president of the Latin American and European Continuing Education Network (RECLA), noted that such programs have become strategic components for higher education institutions as professional trajectories change.

Additionally, the university launched the “Un latido cimarrón que salva vidas” campaign at the Ensenada Campus to promote voluntary blood donation. The initiative brings together the university community, health institutions, and blood banks to ensure the availability of safe blood resources. Rector Palafox Maestre emphasized that blood donation is both an institutional social responsibility and a fundamental civic duty.
