Universidad Autónoma de Chapingo academic future uncertain in Guerrero
The future of academic activities at the Universidad Autónoma de Chapingo (Uach) in San Luis Acatlán, Guerrero, remains uncertain. For the current school cycle, students from Guerrero interested in the program have enrolled at the central campus in Texcoco to complete their first preparatory year.
While the San Luis Acatlán site continues to function as a center for research, animal and crop modules, and workshops for high school students, the local academic group that operated there for a decade is currently transitioning. The state government is in ongoing discussions with Chapingo to establish a degree program in Guerrero.
Internal political tensions at Chapingo’s central administration, including disputes regarding the rectorate and academic union protests against new institutional regulations, may delay negotiations with the Guerrero government to resume full academic operations in the region.
