Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez addresses digital challenges

The Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez (UACJ) is hosting a forum titled “Crecer entre pantallas: impacto en la salud mental de la infancia y la adolescencia” (Growing among screens: impact on the mental health of children and adolescents) on September 2. The event aims to address the challenges of daily technology use, including its effects on learning, interpersonal relationships, and emotional well-being. Key topics include managing student attention in a digital age, addressing cyberbullying, and recognizing the anxiety caused by constant screen exposure.

Academic Secretary Guadalupe Gaytán Aguirre emphasized the university's role in community issues, noting that the forum seeks to involve parents, teachers, and authorities to inform future legislation regarding digital challenges.

Parallel to these social concerns, the integration of Internet of Things (IoT) technology is transforming university campuses. The use of connected devices allows for smarter management of facilities, such as automated attendance through smart credentials, real-time laboratory equipment monitoring, and enhanced campus security through intelligent access systems and emergency alert buttons.
