Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro faces student protests and sexual abuse allegations

The Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro (UAQ) is facing significant unrest following a student strike and allegations of sexual abuse. Students occupied the Faculty of Philosophy, leading to the suspension of academic activities at the Centro Histórico campus. Protesters cited concerns regarding institutional abuse and corruption as primary drivers for the mobilization.

Simultaneously, the feminist collective Adax Digitales has called on the university to provide transparency regarding the dismissal of a professor accused of sexually abusing a minor at the Jalpan de Serra campus. While the professor was removed from his position following student demonstrations during rectorate candidate presentations, the collective is demanding that the university's Gender Violence Attention Unit (UAVIG) clarify whether formal institutional disciplinary procedures were followed.

Legal proceedings regarding the alleged abuse are ongoing. The collective emphasized the need for due diligence and comprehensive support for the victim through the State Commission for Integral Attention to Victims.
