Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro starts 2026‑2 semester, adds new arts workshops

The Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro (UAQ) reopened its 2026‑2 academic term on July 27, enrolling 34,798 students across high‑school, undergraduate, graduate and language programs. The enrollment comprises 8,926 preparatory students, 21,917 undergraduates, 2,999 post‑graduates and 956 language‑course participants. Of these, 8,797 are new entrants and 26,001 are returning students. UAQ offers 249 degree programs, with 62 % of evaluable programs accredited by the CIEES or recognized bodies, and 14 programmes hold international accreditation. In the admission cycle, 8,868 applicants competed for 4,158 spots, a 46.88 % acceptance rate, with high demand for majors such as General Medicine, Law, Business, International Trade, Psychology, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine and Architecture.

The School of Arts and Crafts (Escuela de Artes y Oficios) at UAQ opened a new cycle of 40 workshops for the 2026‑2 period, delivered both in‑person and virtually at the Aeropuerto, Casa Carreta and San Juan del Río campuses. Courses cover gastronomic techniques, home‑maintenance, artistic and literary disciplines, as well as finance and marketing, lasting 40 or 80 hours. Classes begin between 10 and 15 August, with groups of 15‑40 participants receiving a digital certificate upon completion. Irving Francisco García Carrasco, the school’s administrator, invited the public to join, noting that basic literacy and numeracy are the only prerequisites.
