Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro's play 'Altazores' chosen for 46th National Theater Show

The university theater company of the Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro (UAQ) will present its play “Altazores” at the 46th Muestra Nacional de Teatro, scheduled for 5‑14 November 2026 in Querétaro. The production, written by Sergio Aguirre and inspired by the poem Altazor, tackles adolescent suicide and mental‑health issues, and incorporates experiences from the 2022 student strike at UAQ.

Directed by Fabián Verdín with co‑direction by Ulises Soto and Fabricio Merlos Garay, the cast includes Ximena Teutli Ramírez, Paulina Nayeli Álvarez Castañón, Ana Karen Martínez Avilés, Kathya Márquez Gutiérrez, Paola Aimeé Tovar Serrano and Ana Ximena Jáuregui Uribe. The play competes in the category of experiences and practices, alongside productions from more than twenty Mexican entities. The event will be held at venues such as the Teatro de Cámara Pamela Jiménez at UAQ’s Faculty of Arts and is organized by the federal Secretariat of Culture and the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura in coordination with the state culture secretariat.
