Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo elects Gerardo Roa as vice‑rector and adds new ID card service point
Gerardo Roa Ogando was elected vice‑rector of Extension at the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD) for the 2026‑2030 term, defeating Lenchy Vargas in a runoff. Roa previously served as director of the School of Letters and dean of the Faculty of Humanities and outlined a work plan focusing on territorializing extension programs, continuing education, entrepreneurship, social innovation, science and culture outreach, internationalization, volunteerism, and alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals.
In a related initiative, UASD rector‑elect Jorge Asjana David and Junta Central Electoral (JCE) president Román Andrés Jáquez Liranzo announced that a new point for delivering the national identity and electoral card will be opened at the university’s central campus. The service aims to simplify renewal for students, staff and the public, featuring enhanced security and technological upgrades, while strengthening cooperation between the state university and the electoral authority.
