Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas hosts human rights colloquium
The Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT) and the Asociación Nacional de Universidades e Instituciones de Educación Superior (ANUIES) have inaugurated the 3rd Intersedes Colloquium of the Inter-institutional Doctorate in Human Rights.
Dámaso Anaya Alvarado, Rector of UAT, opened the national event by stating that human dignity is an inherent right and the foundation of a just society, rather than a concession from the State. He emphasized that academic research must be linked to collective social welfare and used to address the causes of inequality.
The doctorate program was established in June 2017 through an agreement between the Comisión Nacional de los Derechos Humanos (CNDH) and various public universities. The colloquium brings together faculty, students, and program directors to foster academic rigor and institutional responsibility in protecting human rights.
