Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas launches cancer support campaigns

The Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT) has launched several initiatives to support breast cancer patients through its “Recolecta” campaign and the “Energía Rosa” Zumbathón. These efforts are part of the university's social responsibility programs, organized in coordination with the University Women's Institute and the Familia UAT program.

Participants across various locations, including Ciudad Victoria, El Mante, Tampico, Reynosa, Matamoros, and Nuevo Laredo, contributed plastic bottle caps as entry to fitness activities or through direct donation drives. Collected items included beverage caps, household product containers, personal hygiene items, and various other materials.

The donations are being provided to the civil association “Un Cachito de Luz.” According to Magdalena Pérez Juárez, president of the association, these resources are vital for financing chemotherapy, specialized medical studies, and essential medications for oncology patients. The events also aimed to promote health awareness, self-care, and early detection of breast cancer.
