Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas promotes border diplomacy through art
The Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT) and the government of Tamaulipas have strengthened regional development efforts through art and education as tools for binational cooperation. On October 13, the contemporary sculpture ‘Las huellas de COVECO’ was unveiled at the Faculty of Commerce, Administration, and Social Sciences in Nuevo Laredo.
The event was led by Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya and UAT Rector Dámaso Anaya Alvarado, with participation from U.S. Consul General in Nuevo Laredo Charlie Franta, Mayor Carmen Lilia Canturosas Villarreal, and representatives from Laredo, Texas. The initiative aims to move border cooperation beyond trade and security to include professional training, cultural exchange, and community trust-building. This approach seeks to enhance regional competitiveness by developing human capital and intercultural competencies essential for the international trade and logistics sectors.
