Universidad Católica bans fans for up to six years; Universidad de Chile lowers ticket prices after protest

Universidad Católica announced severe disciplinary measures after the match against Deportes La Serena at the Claro Arena. Five supporters – four identified as La Serena fans and one UC fan – were handed bans from entering any Chilean football stadium, with penalties ranging from four to six years. The club emphasized its commitment to safety, stating, “El Claro Arena es un espacio de respeto”.

Separately, Universidad de Chile experienced a sharp drop in attendance following a boycott by its barra Los de Abajo. In response, the club introduced new pricing to encourage fans, offering free entry for children under seven and a 50 % discount for those aged eight to twelve, saying, “Hemos trabajado en mecanismos para alivianar el alto costo de concurrir al estadio en familia”. The measures aim to restore crowd numbers for upcoming fixtures.
