Universidad Católica de Temuco adopts One Health approach

The Universidad Católica de Temuco (UCT) is implementing the “One Health” interdisciplinary approach to address emerging sanitary risks in the La Araucanía region. This strategy integrates human medicine, veterinary science, and environmental ecology to combat health challenges driven by climate change.

Experts emphasize that rising temperatures and ecosystem alterations are contributing to the reappearance of transmissible diseases, such as hanta and hydatidosis. The initiative aims to strengthen scientific research, postgraduate training, and zoonosis prevention through collaborative work between clinicians, veterinarians, and epidemiologists.
