Universidad de Carabobo confirms legal sale of Majay building

Rector Jessy Divo de Romero of the Universidad de Carabobo said the sale of the Centro Comercial Majay complied with all legal and administrative requirements. The building, acquired in 2021, was reported to be vandalized, with structural damage and sanitation problems. An appraisal valued the property at $480,000, and it was sold for $400,000 to the highest‑valued offer.

Divo explained that the proceeds allowed the Fundación Universidad de Carabobo (FundaUC) to purchase three properties in the El Trigal urbanisation, two of which now house FundaUC’s main offices and the third serving the Fundación Centro de Estudios de las Américas y del Caribe. She rejected accusations of corruption, emphasizing FundaUC’s legal autonomy and offering full cooperation with any investigations.
