Universidad de Chile eyes Argentine midfield signings as transfer window closes
Universidad de Chile, competing in the Chilean Primera División, has only confirmed one winter acquisition, midfielder Gonzalo Reyna. The club is looking to add a central defender and a central midfielder, a need highlighted by sport director Fernando Gago, as the domestic season progresses.
The Chilean side has identified two Argentine midfield options. It is monitoring 25‑year‑old Bautista Kociubinski, currently on loan from Estudiantes de La Plata after stints with Montevideo City Torque, and 25‑year‑old Martín Río, who has played for Banfield and is under contract with Talleres de Córdoba. Both Argentine clubs appear willing to consider loan or partial‑ownership deals, and fellow Chilean club San Lorenzo has also expressed interest in Río. Universidad de Chile aims to finalize a deal before the transfer deadline.
