Universidad de Chile demands release clause for Lucas Assadi amid European interest
Universidad de Chile is facing potential departures of key midfielder Lucas Assadi as several European clubs express interest. The club has maintained a firm stance, insisting that any interested party must meet the player's $3.5 million release clause.
Swedish club AIK Solna has emerged as a primary suitor. Reports indicate that Assadi's agent is already in Sweden, suggesting negotiations are advanced and could result in a transfer before the upcoming Superclásico against Colo Colo.
Turkish side Trabzonspor has also submitted a formal bid, though it reportedly fell short of the required release clause amount. Universidad de Chile's sporting director, Manuel Mayo, noted that while the club prefers to maintain squad stability—especially since the domestic transfer window is closed—they have little recourse if the player wishes to leave and the clause is met.
