Universidad de Colima student conducts AI research at PIIT Monterrey

Pedro Antonio Ibarra Facio, an Intelligent Computing Engineering student from the Universidad de Colima, participated in the 2026 PIIT Research Summer program in Monterrey, Nuevo León. The program is hosted by the Technological Innovation and Transfer Institute (PIIT), which aims to connect academia, government, and industry to foster technological transfer and industrial competitiveness.

During his internship, Ibarra Facio worked on the "Intelligent System for Test Laboratory Management" project. Working alongside Abril Cruz, he focused on software development to improve testing processes for high, medium, and low voltage devices at the Schneider Electric electromechanical laboratory. The project utilized artificial intelligence tools to develop a proposal based on identified system requirements and technological needs.
