Universidad de Morón rector criticizes Mayor Lucas Ghi

The Rector of the Universidad de Morón (UM), Dr. Héctor Norberto Porto Lemma, has issued a critical letter to Mayor Lucas Ghi following the omission of the university from the municipality's official communications regarding the 241st anniversary of Morón.

In the message, which became public after circulating via WhatsApp, Lemma described the institution as being “ignored” by the municipal administration. He characterized the omission not merely as an oversight but as a lack of recognition for the university's historical and economic contributions to the district. The Rector highlighted that the university, founded in 1960, employs 2,500 people, has over 100,000 graduates, and currently serves 20,000 students.

Lemma stated that his grievances were “not personal” but directed at the official for allegedly lying to the university in front of witnesses. He emphasized that the university was built by neighbors, merchants, and cultural figures rather than politicians or wealthy businessmen, and demanded that the Mayor recognize the institution's role in the community's development.
