Universidad de Playa Ancha to premiere contemporary adaptation of Miss Julie

A contemporary adaptation of August Strindberg’s classic drama, ‘Miss Julie’, is set to premiere on August 27 at the Universidad de Playa Ancha (UPLA) Performing Arts Hall in Chile. Directed by Fabiola Ruiz and Víctor Montero, the production is part of the Escena UPLA cycle, which aims to bring high-quality theater to the university community and the Valparaíso Region.

Funded by the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage’s University Theater Support program, the play explores modern themes of desire, power, and identity through the lens of class and gender tensions. The production features scenography by Andrea Contreras and lighting design by Jorge Espinoza. The cast includes Martina Ruiz, Francisca Zúñiga, Natya Tello, and Víctor Montero.
