Universidad de Sancti Spíritus hosts Gerociencia 2026 workshop

The Universidad de Sancti Spíritus José Martí Pérez hosted the Gerociencia 2026 workshop to focus on the welfare and protection of the elderly. The event, held to commemorate International Day of Older Persons and the 25th anniversary of the Raúl Ferrer University Chair, featured over 30 presentations.

Researchers from Santiago de Cuba, Matanzas, and Pinar del Río contributed to the discussions, which primarily focused on geriatrics within medical sciences. Key topics included longevity, community health, the sociology of aging, the role of family in elderly care, and the necessity of training educators to implement new methods for teaching older populations.
