Universidad de Talca releases Human Anatomy Atlas
The Editorial Universidad de Talca has released the “Atlas de la Anatomía Humana: Cortes transversales de cabeza, cuello y tronco” (Atlas of Human Anatomy: Transverse sections of head, neck, and trunk). The publication is available as a free e-book for the academic and student community.
Developed over three years by academics from the Department of Biomedical Basic Sciences at the University of Talca, the work includes international collaborators from Spain and Colombia. The project aims to address the challenges of teaching anatomy amidst a global scarcity of cadaveric material.
Professor Bernarda López, the lead author, noted the symbolic importance of the work, highlighting that it is one of the few anatomy atlases in the world to feature a woman as the primary author.
