Universidad Favaloro medical students conduct rural rotations in Santiago del Estero

Forty-one sixth-year medical students from Universidad Favaloro are conducting their mandatory final practical rotations in the interior of Santiago del Estero, Argentina. The program, which runs from June 22 to August 28, involves students working across eleven provincial hospitals.

Participants reported that the rural setting provides unique challenges compared to urban centers like Buenos Aires, specifically regarding resource management and addressing the socioeconomic needs of patients. Students noted the importance of finding alternative treatments when patients cannot afford standard medical costs and observed the differences in healthcare access in rural areas.
